Kendall and Jason Wedding Welfare Cafe

There’s something really special about second shooting weddings — it’s a chance to tell a story from a different perspective, without the pressure of being the lead. And when I get to second shoot alongside my best friend Philip? Even better.

This time, we had the joy of documenting an incredible wedding at Welfare Cafe & Goat Barn Venue in Boerne, Texas. If you’ve never been, this venue is truly one-of-a-kind. Tucked away in the Texas Hill Country, it’s full of charm, rustic elegance, and a sense of intimacy that feels just right for a celebration of love.

From the moment we arrived, the energy was infectious. Laughter from the wedding party, the smell of fresh florals in the warm air, and those little behind-the-scenes moments that make weddings unforgettable — I got to capture it all.

As a documentary-style wedding photographer, second shooting allows me to focus on emotion, textures, and the small interactions that often go unnoticed. Some of my favorite images from the day came during the getting ready moments and golden hour portraits around the property. The Goat Barn Venue’s unique architecture and natural backdrops gave every frame so much character.

It was such a pleasure to support Philip and to be a part of this beautiful wedding. Here are a few of my favorite clicks from the day — full of love, laughter, and that special Texas magic.

If you’re planning a wedding in Boerne or anywhere in the Hill Country, I can’t recommend Welfare Cafe & Goat Barn Venue enough. And if you’re looking for a San Antonio wedding photographer (or second shooter), feel free to reach out — I’d love to connect.
