My Workflow

Your Memories, Safely Preserved

As your wedding photographer, I understand the irreplaceable value of your wedding photos. That’s why I’ve developed a meticulous workflow to ensure every image is securely backed up and preserved.

Dual Memory Card Recording

During your wedding, I use professional Nikon cameras equipped with dual memory card slots. This setup allows each photo to be simultaneously written to two separate cards, providing immediate redundancy and safeguarding against potential card failures.

Immediate Post-Wedding Backup

Upon returning from your wedding, I promptly import all images into Adobe Lightroom on my MacBook Pro. This process generates smart previews and initiates the first layer of backups:

  • Primary Backup: RAW files are stored on a 36GB external RAID hard drive, offering both speed and redundancy.
  • Secondary Backup: A portable 4TB hard drive holds a copy of the wedding currently being edited, ensuring accessibility and additional security.
  • Smart Previews: Lightroom’s smart previews are retained on my MacBook Pro, allowing for seamless editing even if external drives are disconnected.

Continuous Cloud Backup

To further protect your images, I utilize Backblaze, a reliable cloud backup service. Backblaze continuously backs up my entire system, including connected external drives, ensuring that your photos are safe even in the event of hardware failure or other unforeseen circumstances.

Final Image Delivery and Archiving

Once your wedding photos are edited and finalized, I take additional steps to preserve and deliver them:

  • iCloud Storage: Final JPEG images are uploaded to iCloud, providing secure, accessible storage across all my devices.
  • Client Gallery: Your images are uploaded to a personalized online gallery, allowing you to view, download, share, and order prints with ease.
